It looks like UCF will be looking for a new football head coach along with a new AD. Josh Heupel is finalizing a deal to become the next Tennessee head coach according to Pete Thamel. Tennessee already hired former UCF AD Danny White last week and now they have their head coach. Heupel has been with UCF for the past three seasons. He has a 28-8 record with the team including an undefeated regular season in his first season. His win total has decreased every season but he has still made it to a bowl game in each season. His offense at UCF was ranked towards the top in the country every year he was there, and Tennessee hopes he can bring that same play there. Tennessee has not had a great offense in recent years.

UCF will now be looking for their third head coach since 2017. Heupel is yet another UCF coach to make the leap to a Power five position joining current Nebraska head coach Scott Frost. UCF's next head coach should be one that can bring defensive intensity and one that can develop quarterbacks very well. A name that comes to mind is Clemson offensive coordinator Tony Elliott. He got to coach potential number one overall pick Trevor Lawrence and could help Dillon Gabriel develop into a more consistent quarterback.
