Matthew Stafford is finally on the move after spending his whole career with the Detroit Lions. The Lions have traded Stafford to the Los Angeles Rams for Jared Goff, two future first round picks, and a third round pick according to Adam Schefter. The first round picks will be in 2022 and 2023. The third round pick will be in this years draft. Last week, Stafford and the Lions mutually agreed to part ways and to get him traded as soon as possible. There was uncertainty about Goff and the Rams after the playoff loss to the Green Bay Packers and now that has become a reality.

Goff threw for 3,952 yards, 20 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He also completed a career high 67 percent of his passes. Stafford threw for 4,084 yards, 26 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. The Rams went 10-6 this season and had the sixth seed in the playoffs. They upset the Seattle Seahawks in the first round of the playoffs before losing to the Packers in the second round. The Lions went 5-11 this season despite Stafford having a really good season.

Both of these teams will be going in different directions. The Lions look like they will be rebuilding their roster now. They will have multiple first round picks in 2022 and 2023, and they have the 7th overall pick in the draft this season. The Rams have Super Bowl aspirations with this move after having the number one defense in the NFL this year. This will be the first time in Stafford's career that he will be on a team that will contend for a championship. The Rams will also have more cap space with this move as Stafford's contract only has 2 years, 43 million left on the deal. The next quarterback that will be in trade talks will be Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson.
