This NBA season has been filled with lots of great talent and a lot of scoring. There have also been a number of great teams that could have a chance to compete for a title but there can only be six teams on this list. Here are the top six teams in the NBA right now.

6. Denver Nuggets

The Denver Nuggets have been playing probably the best basketball in the entire NBA over the past few weeks. They have won seven straight games and 16 of their last 19 games. This has been fueled by the acquisition of Aaron Gordon from the Orlando Magic. He has brought this team elite play on the defensive side and he gives the Nuggets another capable scorer and shooter. They have been slowly creeping up the Western Conference standings. They now sit in forth place and are closing in on the Los Angeles Clippers for the third seed. They have an MVP candidate in Nikola Jokic. He is averaging 26.3 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 8.7 assists a game as a center. If the Nuggets keep up this play, they have a good chance to come out of the West.

5. Milwaukee Bucks

The Bucks have been sitting quietly in shadows unlike the previous two seasons when they had the best record in the NBA each of those seasons. The Bucks sit in third place in the Eastern Conference right now but are not far behind the 76ers and the Nets for the the top spot. The two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo is putting up yet another great season. He's averaging 28.8 points per game, 11.4 rebounds per game, and 6.2 assists per game. The acquisition of Jrue Holiday from the Pelicans has made this team better despite having a worse record. They have also made a few other moves to make the team better like getting P.J. Tucker from the Rockets and signing Austin Rivers. This team has the ability to beat anyone but it will come down to the play of their MVP and how he performs in the postseason.

4. Philadelphia 76ers

The 76ers have consistent all season long even when MVP candidate Joel Embiid had to miss a few weeks with a knee injury. Embiid is having a career season so far. He is averaging close to 30 points per game, 11.2 rebounds, and 3.2 assists. The team is just a half-game behind the Nets for the number one spot in the Eastern Conference. The reason for this success? The play of Tobias Harris and Ben Simmons. They have both been extra aggressive this season and especially while Embiid was out with his injury. Harris is playing like the 180 million dollar player that the 76ers paid him to be. Simmons looks like the favorite for defensive player of the year right now and has shown flashes of being an aggressive offensive player. The 76ers have all the tools to win it all this year.

3. Phoenix Suns

This is probably the biggest surprise of the whole NBA season Before the season started, most people thought the Suns would be a middle of the pack playoff team but that's it. No one could have imagined that they would have the second best record not only in the West, but in the entire NBA. Chris Paul is a huge reason why they have been so good. His numbers may not jump out at you but his basketball I.Q and leadership has helped players on this team. Devin Booker has benefitted the most from having Paul. This is the first time in his career that he has played with another all-star and its paying off. Booker is averaging 26 points per game, 4.1 rebounds, and 4.5 assists. He has played like an MVP candidate all year. The Suns are ranked top ten both offensively and defensively. The question will be whether or not the role players will perform well come postseason time. If they perform well, then the Suns will have success this postseason.

2. Utah Jazz

The Jazz are letting themselves be heard and want everyone's respect. Well, It looks like they are getting the respect they deserve. They have NBA's best record right now and are rolling right now. They have won 10 of their last 12 games and have the leagues best point differential. The Jazz are on pace to average the most three-point makes per game in NBA history for a whole season. They average just under 17 made threes a game. It's not just the offense that is impressive, the defense has been just as good. They are top five in points allowed and top five in points per game. All-star guard Donovan Mitchell has been on a mission this season to earn his respect. He is averaging 26 points per game, 4.5 rebounds, and 5.3 assists. All of those are career-highs. He is also shooting a career-high 40% from the three-point line. Players like Rudy Gobert, Mike Conley, and Jordan Clarkson helping Mitchell, this team has the recipe to takedown anyone in the NBA.

  1. Brooklyn Nets

The leagues highest scoring offense is starting to finally get healthy, and that is a scary sight for the other teams in the NBA. The Nets have a team that consists of Kevin Durant, James Harden, Kyrie Irving, Blake Griffin, and LaMarcus Aldridge. This team has absolutely no weakness on the offensive side of the ball. If there is a flaw with the Nets, it would be their defense. Teams have been able to score on this team but no team has been able to stop them. Durant, Irving, and Harden are all three averaging over 25 points per game. Harden is an MVP candidate for how he's performed this season without both Durant and Irving. When this team gets fully healthy, there probably isn't a team that can beat this team if they're clicking on all cylinders.
